Does the account owner see that I downloaded their story?
No. DownIG never signs in to Instagram, so the download adds no view and sends no notification. Just note that if you open the story in the app to copy its link, Instagram counts that as a normal view from your account.
Can I download an Instagram story after 24 hours?
No, an expired story link stops working once the 24 hours are up. The exception is a story the creator saved as a Highlight: paste the Highlight link and it downloads at any time.
What is the difference between Stories and Highlights here?
Stories are temporary and disappear after 24 hours, while Highlights are stories the creator pinned to their profile permanently. DownIG downloads both the same way; a Highlight link simply never expires.
Can I save stories from a private account?
No. DownIG only fetches stories from public profiles and never bypasses Instagram privacy settings. A private story link returns an error rather than a file.
Do stories download as photos or videos?
Both, depending on the story. A photo story saves as a JPG image and a video story saves as an MP4 with sound, each in the quality Instagram serves.
Do I need an app or an Instagram login?
No. Everything runs in your browser on iPhone, Android or a computer. You never install anything, and you never enter your Instagram credentials on DownIG.
